Our Mission
Nothing matters more than knowing your parent is safe at home. At ALISE Systems, our mission is to give families peace of mind while helping communities and care teams deliver safer, smarter, and more cost-effective care. We honor independence, dignity, and privacy — empowering older adults to live well at home and in the community.
“We created ALISE after trying every button, wearable, sensor, and camera — realizing none truly supported the residents we serve. Families were frustrated. Staff were overwhelmed. Seniors felt watched instead of respected. We needed something that fit real life, honored independence, and actually worked.
That’s why we partnered with StackCare, the leader in passive sensor technology, to build ALISE — a turnkey service that combines proven innovation with hands-on support. Together, we deliver peace of mind for families, give communities and care teams the tools to intervene earlier, and help older adults live safely and independently at home”.
Our Story
About the Founders
Technology Detects. ALISE Responds.
ALISE Systems was founded by Joyce Aquino and Angel Ascencio, two senior living professionals who have spent their careers protecting older adults and improving community operations.
They shared one frustration: too many falls and emergencies were discovered only after they happened.
ALISE was built to change that.
Joyce Aquino – Founder
As a female business owner and minority leader born in the United States to Filipino parents, Joyce began her career in senior living and steadily advanced through leadership roles across California, Arizona and Hawaii. Her journey includes serving as Nurse Director, Divisional Nurse Director, and Regional Operator, where she led teams, supported families, and improved care standards across multiple communities.
Her lived experience as a woman of color in healthcare leadership shaped her belief that technology should never replace compassion — it should enhance it. That conviction became the foundation for ALISE Systems.
Angel Ascencio – Co-Founder
As a Hispanic business owner and senior living professional, Angel began his career in senior living and advanced through leadership roles focused on resident engagement, safety, and operations. His experience as an Activities Director and Memory Care Director led him to serve as a Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) with the California Department of Social Services (DSS), where he conducted inspections and supported providers across the state.
His background as both an operator and regulator shaped his commitment to helping communities strengthen compliance and protect residents with compassion. That commitment became a cornerstone of ALISE Systems.
A Letter from the Founders
We didn’t start ALISE Systems because we had investors or a perfect business plan.
We started it because, after years working in senior living, we saw too many moments that could have been prevented — and too many families left worrying if their loved one was safe.
We’ve both lived the reality of long nights, short staffing, compliance pressure, and those phone calls that make your heart stop.
We knew there had to be a better way to care — one that didn’t rely on being in the room, or watching through cameras, but still felt human. ALISE was built from that belief.
We’re still small. We’re still building. We’re learning every day.
But every time a community tells us that our alerts helped them respond faster, or a daughter says, “I finally slept through the night,” we know we’re on the right path.
This isn’t a tech startup story.
It’s a care story — built by people who have been there, who understand what’s at stake, and who refuse to give up until safety and compassion can coexist in every home and community.
Technology detects. ALISE responds.
No cameras. No Wi-Fi. Just care.
One resident at a time.
